Doug Dillon is certified with the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) as a Certified Green Professional.™

The Certified Green Professional (CGP) designation recognizes builders, remodelers, and other industry professionals who incorporate green building principles into homes— without driving up the cost of construction. Classwork leading to the designation provides a solid background in green building methods, as well as the tools to reach consumers, from the organization leading the charge to provide market-driven green building solutions to the home building industry.

Zack Dillon is certified with the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) as a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS).

The Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation program teaches the technical, business management, and customer service skills essential to competing in the fastest growing segment of the residential remodeling industry: home modifications for the aging-in-place.

The NAHB Remodelers Council, in collaboration with the AARP, NAHB Research Center, and NAHB Seniors Housing Council, developed this program to provide comprehensive, practical, market-specific information about working with older and maturing adults to remodel their homes for aging-in-place.

Zack Dillon is a Certified Renovator: Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair, and Painting.

The U.S.Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recently enacted new regulations affecting contractors performing renovation work in residential dwellings or child-occupied facilities built before 1978. This regulation is called “Lead: Renovation, Repair, and Painting Program” (RRP). Beginning in April 2010, any renovation work (including painting) which disturbs painted surfaces in residential dwellings or child-occupied facilities built before 1978, must be performed by persons trained in lead-safe work practices, with specific responsibilities for a new discipline of “Certified Renovator”.

The whole process was very straight forward, meeting our design requests perfectly. You were especially helpful with pointing out the important aspects of the job we did not take into consideration. Your experience was invaluable to us during the planning stage as well as during the project itself.

Your ability to work with our changes and find quick and cost efficient solutions allowed for an expeditious completion of the work in a stress free environment.

The construction site was unobtrusive to our busy household, with hardly any inconvenience to our daily life. When finished we must admit that the basement was left cleaner than it was prior to the job.

The final result is a beautiful full bathroom to be enjoyed by our children and our guests.

Sun Catcher Builders has helped me with several projects on my Old West Side home. In addition to rebuilding my historic front porch, Sun Catcher designed and built my back deck. Inside, they have made extensive drywall and plaster repairs, identified and fixed a persistent, intermittent plumbing problem and helped me replace bathroom fixtures. They have also done internal and external painting. This year, Sun Catcher will renovate my family room and kitchen, an extensive project that will involve tile work, new walls and cabinetry, and a custom-made mantel.

On every one of these projects, Sun Catcher has done an excellent job. I particularly appreciate the breadth of their expertise and their practical guidance. They have consistently performed quality, detailed work. For example, when Sun Catcher rebuilt my front porch, they shaped the rails to match the balusters, a subtle, historically appropriate change that looks wonderful. Another example would be my back deck, which had to be designed and built to coordinate with an existing brick patio. I could not be more pleased with the results.

Working with Sun Catcher has left me feeling like I understand the process and the reasoning behind the decisions. Doug Dillon and his crew know how to build, and they have been diligent in presenting me with my options as decisions need to be made. The results have been fantastic.
